It Wasn’t Long Ago I Went Through Exactly What You Are Going Through

Life gets in the way and with growing up comes a job, a partner, kids and plenty of bills including the mortgage! From playing sports and excelling at Cricket(which I played to county level for Hertfordshire before a back injury forced to stop playing at a high level) I had to stop and find something else to fill the void. So I turned my attention to the gym and lifting heavy weights. So instead of continuing to spend my Sundays playing cricket in the warm weather and strolling around the outfield of a cricket pitch waiting for lunch so I could have some tuna sandwiches I decided it would be a better idea to eat lots of chicken and pick up anything that was heavy. Unfortunately for me, as I found my free time vanishing whilst I concentrated on working and raising a family the only thing heavy I was pushing around now was my ever expanding stomach.


As I stuttered through life my confidence began to dwindle, surely there was more to life than this? I had to find a way to be happy, something which made me feel alive and something I could look forward to. 


I had done the whole weight training thing, I had been yo-yo dieting for years, losing and then gaining weight every year but it all just felt so hollow, I was now past the age of 30 wondering if I would be feeling like this for the rest of my working life but then one chance meeting in the gym would change my life for ever....

I was introduced to someone who used to Box in South America and together with a few friends requested he teach us the sweet science of Boxing. I was hooked, I loved the feeling of punching the pads or the bag, with all the added benefits that Boxing gave to my physique I got into the best shape of my life. I was feeling much better both mentally and physically and now I had something to look forward to every week. But then it stopped and again I was left thinking where do I go from here?


Having bounced around a few Boxing clubs I decided I would take matters into my own hands, knowing how good I felt when I was Boxing and the difference it had made to my life, I decided I would start teaching others so they could experience the same feelings I had and so every weekend, after spending the week working my full time job in IT I would travel down to the very gym I first learnt to Box and would teach others.

My plan had been set, in the years that followed I would train with Team Hatton (recognised by the British Board of Boxing Control and developed by former World Champion Ricky Hatton) and become a Team Hatton Elite Level Trainer. The Boxercise side was now covered and I could help others get into shape and lose weight. This was quickly followed by learning Strength and Conditioning with KBT.

Now I was qualified to coach others to become stronger, more muscular and perform better in their sport. I still wasn't content and wanted to complete the jigsaw so I got in touch with a former Boxing Champion and Ringside TV Analyst Spencer Oliver and went about learning the technical side of Boxing. Now I could do what I was so passionate about, help others and pass my knowledge on, I could help others feel better about themselves, increase their self esteem and better their health, much like Boxing had done for me. I could give back. I have gone on to publish my books on Amazon, become a Licensed Pro Boxing Coach with the British Boxing Board of Control as well as advising World Champions and training Professional Boxers.

Nothing makes me happier than to see people I have helped, show progress with their fitness goals, with their health and show an increased zest in living life, and so it started, Fayz Fitness was born with my first client being the cousin of a friend. I believe that everyone, male, female, young and old has the right to develop their bodies and learn self defence for their own confidence and health, and it is a goal of mine to help as many people as possible realize this dream.
