The Ummah Fight Camp Drops Gems
You know I can remember in 2015 I was up late one night watching Youtube, I was looking for more info on the Philly Shell and I stumbled across a channel named The Ummah Fight Camp. It was a man by the name of Sayf Carman and he was talking about the history of the Philly Shell, Floyd Mayweather Jr and James Toney – I ended up spending a couple of hours going through his videos and I have been subscribed to the channel ever since.
So it was a huge deal for me to get the chance to interview Sayf Carman. I call him the Fighting Philosopher because not only does he still spar his students at the age of 61 but he offers unique insights into the world of combat sports, not just the history, the how and why but the mental side of the game too, something which is extremely important but often gets overlooked as people try to find the next fancy drill or secret combo. Sayf is an old school boxing coach and keeps it real and having grown up in the 1970’s in the tough streets of Brunswick, New Jersey, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience, not to mention he has been around some excellent names of the sport of Boxing, including former Light Welterweight Champion Saoul Mamby and Floyd Mayweather Sr.
Delve into the mind of Sayf, this interview was over two hours and is full of boxing gems covering both the mental aspect and the historical aspect. We discuss some of the greatest boxers of all time including Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, Floyd Mayweather Jr and James Toney.
Sayf Carman has done it all, Boxing, Bare Knuckle, Karate, Wrestling and I hope to hear from him again and bring you more exclusive insights from a man with over 50 years of wisdom in the fight game.
