Brandon Gonzales was my guest on the Fayz Boxcast and spoke about his career as an amateur and professional and what he is doing now after finishing his boxing career.
Brandon, or Flawless as is he is more widely known, was a relatively late starter to boxing but that didn’t hold him back. Working harder on his game to catch up with other amateur boxers who had been boxing for longer than he had, Gonzales committed to working throughout the day to better his craft. This led to him eventually becoming the number one amateur in the USA as a Light Heavyweight.
The decision was made by his management to turn professional rather than compete in the Olympics and Gonzales had a great start to his career. But it was in his 21st fight when he suffered the first loss of his career to future Super Middleweight World Champion James Degale that Gonzales decided to take a break from the gruelling schedule he had been undergoing as a boxer since his amateur days – it was in this break that Gonzales discovered other opportunities and despite being still in his 20’s, he decided it would be in his best interests to pursue those opportunities.
The decision has proved to be a wise one, Brandon runs a successful gym in his home town, helping children and the local community and has built a very successful Instagram following where he shares his knowledge and tips from his career in Boxing. You can follow him on Instagram Flawless_Gonzales
